This autumn I had the chance to join the LYL Radio team for their project at the Biennale de Lyon 2026. It’s been a particularly nice one to be part of.

The project is called Atmospheres: a series of continuous streams built entirely from the LYL Radio archive. Years of shows, hosts and sounds have been brought together around different moods and turned into streams you can simply put on and leave running.

I worked with the team across the design, development and overall direction of the project. It’s been a rewarding thing to build with people I’ve known and worked alongside for a long time.

The visual identity comes from Local Service. It lives across the Atmospheres interface and has also been carried into the physical space, printed across the LYL Radio wagon at the Biennale.

We also built a phone booth that works like an old landline. You pick up the receiver, leave a message and hang up. The messages are collected by the system and will be published later. There’s something nice about creating a small place for visitors to leave their voice and then finding a way to bring those voices back to them.

The wagon is also home to LYL’s programme throughout the Biennale, with talks, workshops, concerts and listening sessions spread across three weekends. More than 50 hours of programming centred on musical stories and sounds that often sit outside the usual places.

I’m grateful to the LYL Radio team for having me involved and to the Biennale de Lyon for giving the project a place to exist. Thanks as well to Local Service for the visuals, Soulville Sounds for the soundsystem and to all the volunteers and speakers making the weekends happen.

15 years ago, BMI, Third Soul and I started 3Suli, a live techno project built on hardware, rhythm and the three of us playing as one.

It had been more than 10 years since our last reunion. This spring, Bassiani made it happen.

One room, one night in mid May, fully live on the machines. What came out of it is now out as Bassiani Podcast 327, and I'm happy to share the recording with you.

"Tbilisi trio 3Suli (three souls) is Kozmana, BMI and Third Soul, an experimental triple act and key force in Georgia's underground. Together they rally up ritualistic symbolism and blistering beats, taking elements of house, techno, breakbeat and drum 'n' bass as working material. They're closely tied to Vodkast Records, the store so much a part of the Tbilisi scene, where their 2016 five-track Desna EP kicked off its eponymous label with a bang. As performers, the trio bring over a decade of know how to hardware driven sets, dispatching feverish beats to sweat covered ravers, strenuous rhythms for after-hours dancing, Tbilisi techno to the letter. For Bassiani Podcast 327, they bring that high-octane sound straight to the booth. Recorded live at Bassiani back in mid May, this is a one hour cut loaded with endurance drum patterns, snaking melodies and a whole lot of groove. Three souls working in perfect sync, and bringing the ethos of Georgian techno back to the fore. Steadily building, never tiring, a high-powered addition to the Bassiani Podcast roster."

I’m grateful to be part of the LYL Radio community and to have a space where a mix like this can exist and be shared.

The Georgia Special is a personal journey through a scene that has shaped me as a listener, producer and DJ. It moves from sounds of the early ’90s to the present, bringing together records I grew up listening to alongside music from friends, close collaborators and my own work. Some of these older records have stayed with me for decades while others are more recent discoveries. Together they form a personal thread through the music and the scene that shaped my relationship with it.

Rather than attempting to document the history of Georgian electronic music, the mix follows a particular thread through it: deep, patient and hypnotic, at times melancholic, but always in motion.

Georgian electronic music is often associated with one club and one particular sound. There is much more to the story. Ambient textures, broken rhythms, dub-inflected minimalism, dusty house and music that sits outside clear categories all form part of the landscape.

I wanted the selection to reflect some of that breadth while giving each track enough space to develop and speak for itself. It is less a historical account than a personal map of the music I have lived with, discovered and made along the way.
